A community supper is a vital gathering that strengthens local kinship by providing a welcoming space for connection with the community. These meals fostering a sense of belonging, building trust among neighbors, which increases overall life satisfaction. They help to improve mental health, foster community resilience, and facilitate meaningful interaction, ultimately reinforcing and strengthening the social fabric. In Chester, these heartwarming dinners bring the residents together to enjoy amazing meals, allowing long-term locals to reconnect with old friends, classmates, and neighbors.

The Community Suppers are held every second Thursday from November through April at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 225 Gay Street in Chester. Carol Wilson Franchetti coordinates and prepares the home-cooked meals with pure love and passion. These donation-based suppers are sponsored by the Almanor Basin Food Pantry and local business and organizations. The Rotary Club of Chester was proud to sponsor the dinner on March 19 and seven of its members served a St. Patricks Day dinner of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and soda bread.

As the Food Bank recommends, come for the supper, stay for the community spirit, and help make a difference!
